PERFORMANCE: The Berkshire primary care trust cluster has reported “emerging pressures” emerging in ambulance services.
Both Berkshire East and Berkshire West were underperforming against the arriving on the scene for category A patients within 19 minutes and completing handovers within 15 minutes.
In Berkshire East performance had ducked under the 95 per cent within 19 minutes target in month four before recovering in month five, resulting in an amber rating.
The percentage of ambulance handovers completed within 15 minutes at Heatherwood and Wexham Park was below plan at 57.5 per cent, against the target of 62 per cent, leading to a red rating.
In Berkshire West, category A response times were similarly rated amber against the 19 minute standard
Handovers at the Royal Berkshire Foundation Trust were below trajectory at 61 per cent against a plan of 70 per cent.
A “contract query notice” was served against the trust.
Both PCTs also have a contract query notice with South Central Ambulance Service Foundation Trust to address the performance issues raised by the commissioners.
