COMMERCIAL: Virgin is being monitored closely in its provision of integrated children’s services in Devon due to poor performance in a number of areas, governing body papers reveal.

A report to South Devon and Torbay CCG in July said monthly contract reviews are underway led by North East and West Devon CCG.

It said: “Each service has a specification in place with an agreed set of performance indicators and improvement plans where relevant…

“Targets being monitored carefully because of low performance levels currently include issues of timeliness of treatment, responsiveness to urgent referrals, mandatory training and appraisal rates for staff, and staff sickness levels.”

In a statement a spokeswoman for the CCG said the performance issues had existed since before Virgin took over the contract on 1 April.

“Commissioners and provider have been working closely and cooperatively throughout, to make sure these issues are addressed,” she added.
