COMMERCIAL: A company that offered referral guidance to NHS patients in Surrey and provided consultant-led, specialist clinics has gone into administration weeks after losing its contract.
Earlier this month Surrey Downs Clinical Commissioning Group announced it had opted not to renew a deal with Epsom Downs Integrated Care Services (EDICS), saying the contract had “run its course”.
EDICS was subsequently placed into administration on 14 August 2013, according to a statement on the company’s website.
Peter Kubik and Michael Kiely of UHY Hacker Young LLP have been appointed as joint administrators.
EDICS helped guide NHS patients through the referral process and, as part of this support, also provided consultant-led, local NHS clinics.
According to its website, EDICS was “conceived and developed by Surrey GPs to help ensure their patients receive the best support possible during their referral journey and to be able to make informed choices as to where and when they receive their care”.
One of its mantras was “all the benefits you would expect with private care, but from the NHS”.
