The accountable officer for a West Midlands clinical commissioning group has been appointed to lead the Black Country and West Birmingham sustainability and transformation partnership.

Helen Hibbs, GP and accountable officer for Wolverhampton CCG, has been made senior responsible officer for her region’s STP.

Dr Hibbs, who was appointed on Friday, will replace Andy Williams, who announced in March he would be stepping down.

Mr Williams previously told HSJ his departure was due to the new governance structure decided upon by STP partners.

The STP is still searching for an independent chair and programme director and aims to recruit to both roles by July.

In a statement, Wolverhampton CCG said Dr Hibbs “will lead the STP to the next stage in its development as an integrated care system”.

Dr Hibbs said: “I welcome the challenge of taking our partnership forward. I believe that by working together more closely and collaborating across the Black Country and West Birmingham, we can deliver the sustainable, high quality care local people deserve.”
