STRUCTURE: NHS North East Essex has announced that Colchester practice with 12,000 patients will move to a new surgery with a range of new services being planned.
The practice at 19 Creffield Road has been a GP surgery since 1964 but in December it will move to new premises in an historic Grade II listed building, the Garrison Riding School off Abbeyfields.
GP Vivien St Jospeh said: “With the increased space, we hope to increase the services which we can offer to our patients and we are currently in discussion with our patient participation group, looking at having specialist physiotherapy, chiropody and consultant clinics.
“There will be a pharmacy on site, open seven days a week. We hope to run health promotion activities from the site.”
Dr St Joseph added: “We are very excited by the possibilities for improved patient care both for existing patients and in anticipation of the increased population from all the new housing within walking distance.”
NHS North East Essex head of primary care commissioning Penny Lansdown said: “I am sure this move will offer Creffield Road patients much improved premises which will enable the practice team to provide a wider range of services in an environment more in keeping with 21st century healthcare.”
