STRUCTURE: North East Lincolnshire CCG has been authorised by the NHS Commissioning Board, with minor conditions.

It is one of 34 authorised in the first wave of CCGs to be tested. The conditions include that some of its decisions are subject to being “signed off” by the commissioning board. However, the conditions are will be reviewed and are likely to be removed before April.

They mostly relate to its governance arrangements and constitution, which are novel due to its plan to take on the council’s adult social care budget, in line with the current Care Trust Plus.

Its accountable officer, GP Peter Melton, said he expected its five conditions to be lifted before April. He said the process had “helped to create a clear identity for these new organisations”. He said: “It has also helped secure wider ownership of the organisation and its business, particularly amongst its members. Having conditions is fine as it gives a clear signal about the process being transparent and rigorous.”
