FINANCE: NHS North Staffordshire has said it is “on track” to achieve a small surplus at the end of the year.
Board papers said the revenue forecast at month eight, November, is on track to achieve the primary care trust’s surplus control target of £1m.
The papers added that this position “takes into account a forecast overspend” of the University Hospital of North Staffordshire NHS Trust’s contract by £4.775m and £3.1m on continuing care. The projection for continuing care – provided by the shared team operated by NHS Stoke on Trent – remains unchanged from the previous month’s forecast.
It said: “NHS North Staffordshire is on track to achieve the savings required to meet the 2010-11 management cost target and is making good progress against the additional reductions required for 2011-12.”
