FINANCE: NHS North Yorkshire and York narrowly finished 2011-12 in financial balance, but has been risk-rated red by NHS North of England for the year.
An SHA cluster board report shows a £209,000 surplus on its £1.26bn budget. But it is listed as the only red-rated PCT in Yorkshire and the Humber for finance. The PCT has received bailouts in recent years.
The board report says: “The PCT cluster has faced continuing budgetary pressures, including overtrades against its main contracts, but has through a range of measures managed to deliver its planned breakeven position.
“The SHA continues to work closely with NHS North Yorkshire & York to support and challenge their financial plans for 2012-13 and in particular to ensure a sustainable recurrent position for handover to CCGs.”
