The Vulnerable Veterans and Adult Dependants service has been shortlisted in the mental health category of the 2011 Military and Civilian Health Partnership Awards, hosted by the Ministry of Defence.
A statement said: “The Vulnerable Veterans and Adult Dependants (VVADS) service was launched at Catterick Garrison in February 2011 to support veterans and armed forces families in the local area. It is part of local mental health services provided by NHS North Yorkshire and York.
“VVADS helps people experiencing common mental health difficulties including anxiety, depression or more complex conditions such as post traumatic stress. The service has specifically employed therapists who are veterans themselves or are experienced in working within military communities.”
