FINANCE: A full-time director has been appointed to oversee implementation of the findings of a major review of NHS services and use of resources in North Yorkshire and York.

The North Yorkshire Review, led by NHS Confederation medical director Hugo Mascie-Taylor, and commissioned by NHS Yorkshire and the Humber, published a series of recommendations in August.

An NHS Yorkshire and the Humber statement says: “Ian Dalton, the chief executive for NHS North of England, the new strategic health authority cluster comprising NHS North West, NHS North East and NHS Yorkshire and the Humber, has agreed that [former NHS Wakefield chief executive] Alan Wittrick will become the full-time Director for the project working with the North Yorkshire health community…

“Discussions are underway to determine how the recommendations made by the North Yorkshire Review can be best implemented and to determine the necessary organisational support required to deliver the programme.”
