WORKFORCE: A nurse whose specialisms include safer staffing has been appointed chief nurse at Pennine Acute Hospitals Trust.

The trust has taken on Gill Harris, who is currently the NHS’s chief nurse for North of England and is leading on projects involving safer staffing and nurse contact hours.

She takes over from Mandie Sunderland who is leaving the trust at the end of January to take up the same post at Nottingham University Hospitals Trust.

Ms Harris said: “I have seen that Pennine is a trust that is fully committed to improving the care and treatment of all its patients and I’m really excited to be involved in driving the continuous improvement of its services forward even further once I take up my new role.”
