FINANCE: Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals Foundation Trust is to refurbish two of it trauma and orthopaedics theatres as part of a £1.9m programme of changes.
The acute trust’s Grimsby Hospital site will see two of its theatres installed with new ventilation systems, new flooring applied and increased storage space.
The work, due to begin on 18 January, will be carried out in two phases and will cause some disruption to services, the trust has said.
One of the theatres will be fitted with a laminar flow ventilation system, designed to reduce the risk of infection.
A second phase involving further improvements to the theatres is due to finish in June.
A fire wall will also be installed across the main theatre corridor, as well as a new reception area and purpose built storage for orthopaedic equipment.
The provider’s chief operating officer, Karen Griffiths, said: “All emergency surgery will continue to go ahead as patient safety is of paramount importance.
“However, patients who are having planned, routine operations may be transferred to one of our other hospitals in either Scunthorpe or Goole to have their procedure done.”
