WORKFORCE: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust has been judged to be one of the top 100 gay-friendly employers in the country.

The 2013 Workplace Equality Index is compiled by charity Stonewall as a tool for employers to measure their efforts to tackle discrimination and create inclusive workplaces for lesbian, gay and bisexual employees.

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust was rated number four, the highest healthcare organisation in the list this year. It was number 13 in the index last year, when it was the second best placed healthcare employer.

Only five other health sector organisations made the top 100. These were London Ambulance Service Trust at number 22; South East Coast Ambulance Service at 35; Hertfordshire Partnership Foundation Trust at 58; and Liverpool Community Health Trust and Kent Community Health Trust jointly at 86.
