PERFORMANCE: Oxford University Hospitals Trust is reporting problems with data quality following the installation of the Cerner Millennium patient record system.

March board papers said the South Central strategic health authority was being kept informed of the situation, and extra support for staff in the trust’s emergency department was being planned.

The papers said “there have been some problems” with the installation, but these “were significantly less than in many other implementations”.

The trust said some staff were “taking time to familiarise themselves with the new system and the new workflows are taking time to bed in.

“Some of these temporary issues have impacted on patient experience.”

The trust’s performance report said “the trust is still yet to report performance data from Millennium,” and was working on year-to-date average figures based on the period before the system went live.

Data quality problems were being experienced on referral to treatment times, and cancelled operations.
