STRUCTURE: Oxford University Hospitals Trust’s submission for foundation status was put back two months.

Primary care trust board papers said that the NHS Trust Development Authority, having assumed its responsibilities, asked the trust to:

  • Demonstrate by 1 March that it continues to meet NHS performance standards and that it has plans to safely reduce its costs in 2013-14 and 2014-15.
  • Confirm, by the same deadline, up-to-date agreement to its forward plans from its key future commissioners, including Oxfordshire CCG.

The Board of NHS South of England, and NHS TDA directors met the trust’s board “shortly before Christmas”, the papers said, as a “formal step” in the trust’s bid to reach foundation status.

“The meeting resulted in confirmation that the Trust would not need to meet with the SHA’s board again and next steps in preparation for formal assessment by the TDA were discussed.

“The SHA have confirmed that this change from the timetable agreed [previously]… does not imply ‘escalation’ – regionally or nationally – under the single operating framework for FT applications.”
