WORKFORCE: Pennine Acute Hospitals Trust has announced the appointment of Dr Sally Bradley as its new medical director.
Dr Bradley will step up from her previous role as the trust’s deputy medical director, a post she has held since December 2009.
The move follows the retirement of former medical director Dr Ruth Jameson.
Dr Bradley graduated as a doctor 25 years ago. Previous senior roles include medical director of Community Healthcare Bolton, GP principal in Salford, and director of public health at NHS Manchester.
She said she was looking forward to her new job, which includes steering the trust towards Foundation Trust status.
“We have real opportunities to build on the successes we have made across our hospitals in reducing hospital mortality, improving clinical practice and patient safety and improving healthcare for local people, some of whom suffer from the worst health in the country,” she said.
“We are improving the care we offer through implementing a comprehensive clinical change programme, as well as a major quality improvement and change management programme whilst working towards Foundation Trust status.
“We know we have challenging times ahead and we need to make sure that any changes are clinically led and do not compromise patient safety.”
