Houda Al-Sharifi has been appointed as the new director of public health for NHS Wandsworth.
The neonatal and cancer expert will leave her current post at NHS Richmond to begin the new job later this year.
The PCT said it hopes Ms Al-Sharifi, who is known for her work across the neonatal hearing screening and cancer screening sectors, will improve the way public health programmes are introduced.
NHS Wandsworth chief executive Ann Radmore welcomed the appointment. She said Ms Al-Sharifi, who has more than 20 years’ experience in and outside the NHS, had led the Richmond team to “an outstanding track record of improving people’s health”.
Ms Radmore added: “We look forward to Houda joining the teams here in Wandsworth and building on our recent successes in public health to further drive down health inequalities and in supporting people to live longer, healthier lives.”
