FINANCE: Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland PCTs were expecting surpluses for 2010-11 in spite of overspending on hospital and community services.

The two PCTs are meeting together as part of the Tees PCT cluster. Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland PCTs were expecting surpluses for 2010-11 in spite of overspending on hospital and community services. As of March, Redcar and Cleveland was expecting an overall £150,000 surplus, and Middlesbrough £490,000. They recorded overspends on acute contracts of £4.8m and £4.5m respectively. This was offset largely by release of contingencies, and reduced admin and primary care spending.
