It's an open secret to everyone in the NHS that it doesn't need any more money it just needs to be better spent!

If the NHS was ran like a proper business (efficient, customer focussed in NHS language offers value for money at the best price, highest quality and has patients - customers - at it's heart) Sound familiar anyone?

It could save BILLIONS yes BILLIONS not just small fry savings. It also needs to be better managed because currently it is not. It relies on the demi-god consultants and doctors 'allowing' managers to make decisions. It needs more management, not less.

The 137,000 posts are probably a drop in the ocean they could save many thousands more but unortunately it's political suicide to suggest any job losses, cuts, closures, reallocation of resources.

In business they would have no hesitation in shutting something down that doesn't work but instead the NHS 'carries' people regardless of what they do because they can't be seen to get rid of them - how many people out there are wandering round with nothing to do really
