Generally I agree with this.
The only thing that I think is worth adding to the final point of the article is that while we send home staff who know the hospital we are also calling in volunteers from society to help out. This doesn't seem right to me. There are definitely some admin and manager staff who can usefully be doing work that is needed in areas where staffing levels have dropped and operational processes become less stable. Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.
