A good article. A public enquiry is a must and it needs to be wide ranging in scope. This should include asking difficult questions about the structure of the NHS and how we fund healthcare. The NHS is not the envy of the world and although front line staff have stepped up (as they have across the world), we must not let their bravery and innovation divert from the simple fact that the UK, Italian and Spanish systems of largely taxpayer funded, state run health systems experienced far more deaths than the largely insurance funded and mixed provision systems of Germany and much of central/ Eastern Europe.
