@anonymous 8.21. The knee jerk policy making was NHSE and especially AHSNs pushing out this intervention add practically forcing us to implement it without even taking a cursory look under the bonnet.

SIM promotes use of police to coerce (its own words) suicidal people often who committed no crime or are posing no risk to anyone, into complying into not seeking help.

Its findings and data got shown up as being fraudulent, with the very police force who was part of its trial expressing concerns in how findings were wilfully fabricated, which were ignored.

Police have a legitimate role in responding to crime, emergencies and keeping people safe. Even in these crisis situations, we rely on them and too much in the absence of skills or capacity in mental health services. Beyond that they certainly have no place in making up numbers in a multi disciplinary community mental health team.
