I really hope the implementation of the Single National Formulary also introduces a mechanism to finally prohibit NHS prescriptions of branded medications, when identical, readily available generic equivalents exist.

Significant cost disparities between certain branded medicines and generic equivalents exist.

Branded medicines offer no true clinical benefits and place a significant financial burden on the NHS.

This will help clinicians by reducing their time spent in repetitive discussions with patients who insist on receiving a branded medicine, because "its the only one that works for me".
