I am pleased to report that things have actually got better for us over time. Such significant changes take a long time to become habit and to bed-in. In the first year of implementation we found that the increased speed simply moved the problem from the front doot to the back door of the hospital (albeit a safer place for the problem to be). This year we also implemented the out of hospital Discharge to Assess pathways and as a consequence things are flowing very well.
So we have seen 7 months of consecutively hitting the A&E target, reduced mortality and we are still operating within tariff.
