Anon of 8.22 says..'the real problem is tariff'. Well actually no….the real problem is The Deficit. If tariff were now to be set at an 'appropriate level', NHSE would exceed its budget allocation and the DoH would breach its DEL (Dept Expenditure Limit). However there have to be better ways of obtaining savings or increasing income in times of austerity and there are options for Health like paying for prescriptions (just an example). In other services..education, defence etc, costs can be cut without people dying. In health not so. I know thats a bit simple and i could write a book….but I hope you see where I am coming from.
