PERFORMANCE: Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has asked outpatients to stay away if they have had diarrhoea or vomiting in the last 48 hours.

Along with many other hospitals, the Royal Surrey said it was currently experiencing an increase in the number of patients coming to the hospital with diarrhoea and vomiting.

It has asked patients with diarrhoea or vomiting the last 48 hours to reschedule routine appointments and only attend A&E if it is a genuine emergency. Those with an urgent hospital appointment, such as an oncology appointment, have been asked to contact the relevant department to check before they attend.

The trust has also warned other visitors that they risk “spreading the illness to patients who are already very poorly”.
