FINANCE: The primary care trust was underspent by £1.5m at the end of November, and is considering plans to lodge an extra £2.5m with its strategic health authority.
The finance report to the PCT’s January board meeting said that there was a risk that the commissioner would finish 2010/11 with a surplus greater than its £2.2m target, and that this might not be returned in 2011/12.
It added: “Although there are plans to utilise some of this underspend non recurrently on the dental practices patient safety project and the voluntary sector, it is likely that additional lodgement of approximately £2.5m will be offered to the strategic health authority. Their acceptance of additional lodgements will be dependent on the overall North West position.”
