PERFORMANCE: Somerset Partnership Foundation Trust’s governance risk rating from Monitor has returned to green, less than two months after it was downgraded due to concerns about patient care.

The trust received a letter from Monitor on 16 December 2011 confirming the trust’s risk rating had been changed to amber red. This reflected the findings of a CQC visit to the trust’s Rown and Magnolia wards at Summarlands Hospital.

The CQC raised moderate concerns in relation to outcome one: respecting and involving people who use services on Magnolia Ward where most patients had severe dementia. Inspectors found a lack of personalised care planning, particularly in relation to patients’ preferences for food and social activities.

However, following a visit in January the CQC confirmed its concerns had been addressed.
