COMMERCIAL: NHS Bristol and NHS South Gloucestershire have agreed to ask North Bristol Trust to extend their contract for provding children’s services fro two years.

A paper to the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucetsershire primary care trust cluster’s September meeting said under current arrangements reprocurement would need to begin in December in order to be complete by the time the current contract expires in 2014.

It said this would be a challenge for the new clinical commissioning groups, added to by the complexity of new arrangements for commissioning children’s services which sees responsibility split between CCGs and the NHS Commissioning Board.

The contract is worth £20m a year.
