STRUCTURE: Membership of South Tyneside FT has fallen, with the trust struggling to recruit in Gateshead and Sunderland, shows a report to the trust’s Council of Governors.
Public and staff membership dropped slightly from 10,190 to 10,161 from April to June this year. At the end of June the trust had 5,140 public members in South Tyneside but just 122 in Gateshead and 142 in Sunderland.
“Unfortunately membership numbers in Gateshead and Sunderland remain low with overall membership continuing to fall,” says the report.
A taskforce has been set up to look at ways of improving membership recruitment, it adds.
