FINANCE: South Warwickshire Foundation Trust is beating its surplus target thanks to high activity levels.

September board papers show the trust recorded a £1.6m surplus for August - £1.1m better than planned

The papers said: “It must be noted that some overspends in the divisions are a consequence of overperformance against contract.”

Income was over-performing by a total of £1.9m in month five, primarily from the Warwickshire primary care trust contract.

The papers also highlighted risks, including “ongoing issues with junior doctors with unplanned gaps in rotas necessitating agency cover premium pay costs”, and rising non elective demand.
