STRUCTURE: South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust is “confident” it will be allowed to take ownership of community hospitals in its area.

The acute provider took over community services under the Transforming Community Services programme.

In his statement to the trust’s board, chief executive Glen Burley said: “We have now formally written to the Arden PCT Cluster setting out our rationale to support the transfer of community assets into the trust.”

The Arden cluster comprises NHS Coventry and NHS Warwickshire.

Mr Burley added: “Whilst NHS Warwickshire did not meet the original national deadline for submission of their transfer plans, we are confident that they will support the transfer of community hospitals to us in the near future.

“We have also made a case for the transfer of clinic facilities as we believe that these too are essential for the delivery of our community based services. We await a response from the Arden PCT Cluster,” he said.
