PERFORMANCE: The trust had eight breaches of the national bar on mixed sex accomodation in March, according to its commissioners latest performance report.
The NHS Merseyside board report stated: “The breaches at Southport & Ormskirk occurred as a result of delayed discharges from A&E, the observation ward and the High Dependency Unit. The action plan for these areas is part of the overall [eliminating mixed-sex accomodation] plan for 2012-13.
“Actions have been taken within the trust and assurances have been sought that the issue of patient flow is being addressed. NHS Merseyside is in close contact with the trust and a set of meetings are in place to review the actions taken to eliminate mixed sex accommodation and monitor compliance.”
