WORKFORCE: Staff at two small units run by Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust are to wear a uniform of blue polo shirts for a trail period.
The staff work at 6 and 7 Airey Close in Lothingland and provide care for people with learning disabilities.
6 Airey Close is an adolescent unit providing assessment and treatment for four patients aged 12 to 18. 7 Airey Close provides rehabilitation service for adults with a learning disability and associated problems who have previously been in a more restrictive environment.
The uniform was requested by service users to help staff stand out.
Nurse lead Sue Medley said: “Service users told us they would like staff to wear a uniform because this distinguishes them from service users and makes them look more professional.”
The units were recently inspected by the Care Quality Commission which found they were meeting essential standards around quality and safety of care.
