FINANCE: Surrey and Sussex Healthcare is projected to be £5.1m over spent on its service level agreement plan and £9.4m over budget at the end of the year.

The Sussex Commissioning Support Unit made the prediction based on provider monitoring returns for the first two months of the financial year.

The report also said the trust, which is categorised as “challenged”, was failing to meet a number of performance targets.

For example, it was failing three out of five A&E targets – re-attendance rates, arrival to initial assessment time and arrival to initial treatment time – and there have been 36 breaches of the same sex accommodation standard in April and May.

It was also failing on both cancer and cardiac waiting times, and was failing to risk assess the required percentage of patients for VTE.

Additionally, the report said£440,000 worth of activity has “been challenged” in May.
