STRUCTURE: Sussex Community Trust has been given the green light to move forward to the next stage of its preparations to achieve foundation status in 2014.

It follows a meeting last month between trust managers and officials from the NHS Trust Development Authority.

The trust said the NTDA had recognised its progress “over this past year to improve the quality of patient care, spend money wisely and strengthen its governance arrangements”.

Trust chair Sue Sjuve said: “There is still a lot of hard work to do to achieve this goal [of becoming an FT by 2014].”

She added: “We will now build on this momentum going forward to prepare our consultation and engagement process aimed at securing public support for our FT application and building an active and vibrant FT membership base.”
