WORKFORCE: The foundation trust is planning to cut its pay bill by £16.1m in cash terms over the following three years, its three year plan shows.

Tameside Hospital FT spent £97.8m on employee expenses in 2010-11, the document states. It plans to reduce that figure to £93.9m this financial year, £83.4m in 2012-13, and £81.7m in 2013-14.

Over the same period, it expects its total operating income to reduce from £145.3m in 2010-11 , to £132.5m in 2013-14.

In 2010-11 the foundation achieved cost improvement programme savings of 2.7 per cent of its turnover, and recorded a deficit of £24.2m. It has planned to make CIP savings of 6.4 per cent this year, 11 per cent in 2012-13, and 5.5 per cent in 2013-14.
