PERFORMANCE: Hillingdon Hospital has seen an increase in the number of short-stay admissions, lowering its overall length of stay, a board paper reports.

The report to the west London acute trust’s board said: “The increase in acute physician hours on the emergency assessment unit is likely to have had a significant impact on reducing length of stay although further analysis is required to confirm this.

“The number of patients being admitted and then discharged home from EAU has increased over the past six weeks. This means that some patients that would have stayed two or three days are now being discharged in one.”
