WORKFORCE: Hillingdon Hospitals Foundation Trust is applying to become one of six regional centres for the training of healthcare support workers.

The proposal was raised in a joint report on workforce development by the trust’s lead nurse for education Helen Bodlak and leadership consultant Lisa Grainger.

The report states: “The process of submitting the bid is well underway and the trust will learn at the end of March if the bid has been successful. This would enable us to provide even more education for our healthcare support workers and increased resources, thereby further enhancing both the quality of care and patients’ experience.”

The trust has already been chosen as a pilot site for the teaching of the Care Certificate for healthcare support workers, as recommended in the 2014 Cavendish review into healthcare assistants.
