The finalists for the 2018 HSJ Awards have been announced.

The awards are one of the largest celebrations of healthcare excellence in the world, recognising and promoting the finest achievements in the NHS, and showcasing them to the service’s most influential leaders.

Winners will be revealed at a ceremony at the Intercontinental London hotel on 21 November. The headline sponsor is GRI (previously known as de Poel health+care).

The shortlisted organisations will now take part in presentations and interviews to judging panels of senior and influential figures from the sector.

The shortlisting process has included an additional stage of checks and balances compared to previous years, and all 1,500 entrants will receive written feedback on their submissions. A total of 26 winners will be announced at the awards ceremony.

HSJ editor Alastair McLellan said: “In this historic year for the NHS we were inundated with applications demonstrating continued determination to deliver first class healthcare, harnessing the latest innovations while ensuring value for money. The quality was of such a level that we took the unprecedented decision to regionalise two of the categories to ensure due recognition.

“The HSJ Awards continue to be the gold standard awards programme in healthcare, giving a boost to teams and organisations through improved morale and assisting with efforts to secure support for projects. Each winner serves as an inspiration to organisations up and down the country, spurring teams to improve and adapt best practices.”
