CONCEPTT-2-Care: Improving Pregnancy Outcomes For Women With Type 1 Diabetes Through Nationwide Implementation Of Continuous Glucose Monitoring Technology

CONCEPTT established that continuous glucose monitoring digital technology improves maternal glucose control and neonatal outcomes for pregnant women with type 1 diabetes. Working with stakeholders across traditional boundaries, an implementation package was co-produced, delivering CGM to all pregnant women with T1D. To date, 98 per cent of pregnant women with T1D have been offered CGM with no inequalities based on ethnicity or social deprivation. This has led to nationwide improvements in maternal glucose control across pregnancy, and pre-term births, large-birthweight babies and neonatal care admissions have started to decline for the first time, saving the NHS around £9.5m per year. This was a strong and passionate submission that has changed practice, shaped national policy and improved outcomes for large segments of the population, said judges.
