PERFORMANCE: Whittington Health Trust is hitting its target for keeping delayed transfers of care low, despite problems transferring to Islington care homes.

The acute and community services trust has achieved a year-to-date rate of 2.2 per cent against a threshold of 3.5 per cent - although the rate for September was 3.6 per cent.

The performance report said: “Some very long delays are patients waiting for specialist neurological rehabilitation beds. Others due to difficulties with
placing people in Islington care homes delays where the patient or family are unwilling to accept the placement offered can occur.”

It said staff there were now “revamped” daily bed meetings and “Clear communication to patients that they will have to go to an interim placement.”
