The two acute trusts that performed worst in the region on this measure have both seen significant upheaval over the past two years - particularly Medway. The Kent district general hospital trust has seen a significant turnover in management and difficulties in recruiting substantive clinical staff.

Of the top five trusts on this measure, Salisbury Foundation Trust and the Royal Surrey have both enjoyed relative stability.

On the second measure we examined, staff at acute trusts were significantly more likely to believe they were understaffed, compared to their counterparts in London.
