FINANCE: A London primary care trust is on track for a surplus, as long as its acute contracts don’t overperform.

NHS Tower Hamlets is predicting a year-end surplus of £3.3m but its finance director warned: “There is a significant key financial risk around the acute contracts; if the forecast levels of over performance arise the PCT will not have sufficient reserves to cover the cost.

“The executive team will be undertaking work to review all uncommitted reserves to identify any additional sources of funding.”
