FINANCE: Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust has reported a “disappointing” performance against its cost improvement plan target.

The trust’s August finance report said that during the first quarter of 2011-12 cost improvement plans were cumulatively £900,000 below plan at £1.5m.

In June, the trust also recorded a pre-impairment surplus of £30,000, which was £388,000 worse than plan.

For the year to date the trust incurred a deficit of £730,000, which was £31,000 better than plan.
