PERFORMANCE: Directors at Southampton University Hospitals Trust are concerned about the lack of capacity to provide maternity services to a sufficient standard at one of its sites.
A document presented to the board earlier this month refers to continuing “significant challenges” for the trust in ensuring Princess Anne Hospital can support maternity services.
It pinpoints a number of areas that are “no longer of sufficient capacity” to deliver some activities, such as the hospital’s day obstetric unit and induction room.
The hospital’s “aging” infrastructure makes it difficult to deliver high quality care, the document added.
