PERFORMANCE: The Care Quality Commission has judged Weston Area Health Trust is now compliant with requirements to co-operate with other providers.

Inspectors ordered the service to improve in order to comply with the standard following a visit in March 2012 prompted by concerns about the quality of information provided to other local health and social care providers on discharge.

The trust board was hoping to form an integrated care organisation with North Somerset Community Partnership and North Somerset Council. These plans were abandoned late last year due to financial viability issues however the organisations are still planning closer working.

A follow up visit in October found the trust had addressed the concerns. The latest CQC report, published in December, said: “Our discussions with members of the trust’s executive and management teams showed that progress had been made. The trust had reviewed the hospital’s processes from patient admission to discharge. Various pilot schemes had been initiated and the improvements evaluated”
