STRUCTURE: A number of key services are to be transferred to and from University Hospitals Bristol Foundation Trust and North Bristol Trust during the next three years.
Breast and urology services will both pass from UHBFT to North Bristol during 2012 while in 2013-14 children’s services, paediatric burns and neurosciences will transfer from North Bristol to UHBFT.
Head and neck cancer and ear, nose and throat services are also to transfer to UHBFT from neighbouring trusts in 2012-13, according to the foundation trust’s annual plan.
During 2012-13 the trust also plans to secure an increase in cardiac work at its Bristol Heart Institute from local patients who currently travel to Oxford and London.
By 2014-15 it aims to have reduced capacity by 200 beds through productivity and length of stay gains in line with plans for the redevelopment of the Bristol Royal Infirmary.
