FINANCE: The Coventry and Warwickshire acute trust has reached a deficit of almost £4m due to overspending in all clinical divisions.

The trust reported at the end of January it has a year to date deficit of £3.9m against a target surplus of £0.4m.

The trust’s finance report listed the “key budgetary variances” including “all clinical divisions are overspending against allocated budgets by a combined total of £9.4m…

“The pathology network has a gross overspend of £1m as part of the partnership agreement only 66 per cent is attributable to UHCW…but this is offset by a contract income overperformance of £1.1m and “underspends on corporate reserves and other trust-wide budgets of £1.2m.”
