Vanash Patel

Vanash Patel is a consultant general surgeon with a specialist interest in colorectal surgery at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals Trust’s Watford General Hospital, one of the annual National Bowel Cancer Audit’s top performing hospitals for bowel cancer treatment.

Vanash holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree and Diploma from Imperial College and obtained a Masters in Surgical Science, also from Imperial College. He is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Imperial College and is actively involved in teaching and training future generations of surgeons. He completed his medical training at St Georges Hospital Medical School, London and completed two fellowships at St Mark’s Hospital and the Joint London Colorectal Clinical Fellow at St Thomas’ and University College London Hospitals.

Throughout his career, he has been involved in medical and clinical research, publishing in peer reviewed journals; and has presented at national and international conferences. Vanash has a clinical interest in robotic-assisted minimal access (keyhole) surgery for colorectal cancer and benign conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease and diverticulosis. He specialises in treatments for perianal conditions such as haemorrhoids, anal fistula and anal fissure, as well as general surgical conditions such as hernia.

Vanash is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland.
